Space is perhaps the most successful day and nightclub of all time. It opens its doors for a full 22 hours a day, seven days a week! It’s unmatched anywhere in the world. Ibiza keeps going literally non-stop because of Space. All the hardcore partygoers come here after the other clubs shut.

You get people here from every walk of life; every musical taste is catered for. Inside they play some excellent house tunes, whereas outside on the terrace it’s more of a Café del Mar vibe, with chilled out ambient and funky tunes.

Space is the brainchild of Pepe Rosello, an Ibicenco from San Antonio, born in 1937. Initially he was involved in the restaurant industry. He owned the popular “El Refugio” club, known to most as “Gorms Garage”. Back then, San Antonio was a jet-set paradise for the “super rich”; the types that would have the super big yachts moored in the harbour. Pepe then went on to run “La Reja” jazz club opposite the restaurant. When the younger crowds discovered the island the demand for music exceeded the demand for food.

In 1987 he took over a conference centre that served as a disco in the evenings. It was on Playa d’en Bossa. He completely took over the building and put a large perimeter fence around it. It was then that he first came up with the terrace concept that has served him so well ever since. This was the same terrace that has become world famous today. The terrace area is huge and allows a variety of different environments to exist. You can choose which one you want or roam about between them.

Space is best known for the “home” mega parties. They’d start at eight am on Sunday morning and run on till six am on Monday mornings. They were amazing. All the worlds top DJs played here.
Pepe and the other 120 or so people that work with him could well be responsible for making Ibiza the legend it is today.
